Atlantic City - Combined Stats (8.14-16, 2026)

Widespread Panic was back on the boardwalk in Atlantic City for a 3-night run for their third appearance in Atlantic City, NJ. They played one night on 7/28/00 and three nights in 2025 for Jimmy’s triumphant return from battling cancer the first time (February 14-16). WATLO Staffers were not present, so we are unable to provide in-depth concert recaps, even though it was fun tuning in from the couch after a fulfilling Western Jaunt. 


Here’s a statistical analysis of the run. We are grateful for permission from www.everydaycompanion.com to gather the data necessary to complete this analysis. This reads more like a technical manual, only proceed if you are ready to fully unleash your inner nerd…


Show Openers:

  • Night 1: Little Lily

    • 250th time ever played

    • 16th time ever opening a show with Little Lily. Check out our recent reel from the Jackson, WY show, the last time they opened with it (7/5/26).

  • Night 1: Old Joe, Conrad

    • 56th time Old Joe was placed in the encore (109th time ever played)

      • Wow! That’s over 50% of the time! (51.4% to be exact)

    • 25th time Conrad was placed in the encore (741st time ever played)

      • Conrad has only been in the encore 3.4% of its total times played. 

    • First and ONLY time Conrad ever followed Old Joe (in any set!).

  • Night 2: None of Us Are Free, Ain’t Life Grand

    • 19th time None Of Us Are Free was placed in the encore (54th time ever played)

    • 163rd time Ain’t Life Grand was placed in the encore (666th time ever played)

      • Almost a quarter of the time this song is played, it’s in the encore (24.5%).

    • Second time this encore was done, first time on 10/22/10 at the Greek Theatre in LA. 

  • Night 3: Heaven > Chilly Water

    • 74th time Heaven was placed in the encore (333rd  time ever played)

    • 78th time Chilly Water was placed in the encore (1,167th time ever played)

      • Chilly is only played in the encore 6.7% of the time! 

    • That’s the 10th time Chilly has immediately followed Heaven, and the third time that exact encore has been performed. The first two times were on 10/28/92 (Montgomery, AL) and 8/20/99 (their only performance in Switzerland).


Noteworthy Moments:

  • All “T” Second Set Night 1

    • Josh Timmermans announced on August 13th on his Facebook Page that this would be his last run with Widespread Panic. This is our strongest lead for why they played only songs that began with “T” the entire set. 

    • Atlantic City has three “t’s” in its name, one of the only cities in America with that many t’s and certainly one of the largest (if not the largest) city in the country with three t’s. Two other towns were mentioned on Facebook that have three t’s: Bartlett, TN and North Little Rock, AR. 

  • One sandwich all weekend!

    • Night 1 had the only sandwich: Up All Night > Holden Oversoul > Up All Night. Therefore, this is a Holden sandwich with Up All Night bread. Up All Night has been used to make a one-meat sandwich two other times: 2/2/16 (Playa where Todd made a comeback, Solid Rock as the meat) and 1/15/23 (Playa Once, with Sharon as the meat). That’s not to say it hasn’t been bread with more than one meat. Holden as a singular meat has only been done once, 7/8/07 when they opened the show in Texas with Driving > Holden > Driving. 

  • The transition from Aunt Avis to Rebirtha on night 2 is worth revisiting (over and over and over).

  • We are very glad to see Low Rider and Sleepy Monkey in the regular rotation.
